Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-14
This page describes how the operator's own instance of this app, running at chores.apphub.casa and ukepenger.apphub.casa, handles your data. The app itself is open source (source on GitHub, Apache License 2.0) and anyone can run their own instance instead; this policy only covers the operator's own instance and the Google Play listing that points at it.
Who is responsible
This app is a small, non-commercial family chores and allowance tracker, run by one private individual as a personal project. That person is the data controller. Contact: gunnar.inge@sort.land.
What data is stored, and why
- Login identity. Logging in goes through Auth0, which hands the app your account ID, name and email address. These are stored with your membership in a family. The app never sees or stores your password.
- Family data you enter. Family and member names, tasks, completion history, payouts and allowance balances. Money amounts are a made-up in-app allowance, not real payments; nothing here connects to a bank account or payment processor.
- Invitations, kiosk dashboard keys and personal access tokens you create. Access tokens are stored only as a one-way hash.
- Push notification subscriptions. If you turn on notifications, your browser registers a push subscription with the server. Notification text (a child's name and a task title) is delivered through your browser's or device's push service (Google for Chrome/Android, Apple for Safari/iOS, Mozilla for Firefox).
All of this is used only to provide the app you signed up for — the legal basis is performance of that service (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). Children's data is there because a parent in the family chose to add it.
Cookies and local storage
The app only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for logging in: a session cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days (the session itself is held in the server's memory only), and two short-lived cookies that exist for the 10 minutes a login takes. Strictly necessary cookies don't require consent, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Your choices of language, theme and currency, the family you last viewed, and a kiosk dashboard's settings and key are stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to the server (except the dashboard key, which is how a kiosk logs in).
What is not collected
There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The app makes no requests to third parties from your browser — even the icon font is served by the app itself. Your data is never sold or shared with anyone outside your own family, other than the service providers below that are necessary to run the service. The app itself does not log IP addresses.
Service providers
- Fly.io hosts the app and its database, in Stockholm, Sweden.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the app as a proxy: all traffic passes through it on the way to Fly.io, so it sees your IP address and the requests your browser makes. It doesn't set cookies here.
- Auth0 (by Okta) handles login, in its EU region.
- Your browser's push service, only if you turn on notifications.
Fly.io, Cloudflare and Okta are US companies; data is stored in the EU, and their data processing terms cover any transfer outside it. Fly.io and Cloudflare may keep short-lived technical logs. The "Feedback" link in Settings opens GitHub, where GitHub's own privacy policy applies.
Children's data
This app is meant to be used within a family, by parents who choose what information about their children — first names and chore activity — to enter. It is not directed at children as its primary audience, and a child only appears in it because a parent, or the child themself invited into that family, put them there.
Retention and deletion
Detailed day-by-day task history is kept for about two months, after which it's compacted into a monthly total per child (the running balance is preserved either way). Everything else is kept for as long as the family uses the app. You can delete data yourself in Settings: a parent can remove a child, leave the family, or delete the whole family, which removes all its data at once. Deleted data may remain in hosting backups for a few days before it's gone for good. You can also ask the operator to delete it for you.
Your rights
You have the right to see the data stored about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to get a copy of it, and to object to or restrict how it's used. Email the operator at the address above. If you think your data is being handled wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "last updated" date.
